This is much more than just a tour: this is a journey that will change your relationship with art forever.
Refined, meticulous, excellent: craftmanship in Rome is not only a trade, is a lifestyle. It is no wonder, then, that the “Made in Italy” is so highly valued worldwide and Italian artisans are held in high esteem for their clever touch.
Together with our local expert guide you will be able to visit a local workshop, like the “bottega” where our Roman jeweler created the ring of Pope Benedict XVI.
You will then discover a Restoration Studio where you will learn about the materials used, such as canvases, wood, plaster, glues and paint, in order to bring art pieces back to their original splendor.
The visit will then include a stroll in the city center marveling at a Caravaggio masterpiece restored in the studio.
Our art historian will meet the guests at Holy Deer to begin a deep dive into Roman artisan world.
We will walk through “Via dei Coronari”, an alley full of artisan workshops in the heart of Rome, and then stop at a “Bottega” of an important jeweler that will disclose the traditions and handicraft work behind his extraordinary creations.
Afterwards the guests will enjoy an exclusive entrance in a Restoration Studio near the Pantheon: among colors, canvases, wood and plaster the Roman restorers are going to lead you “behind-the-scenes” of century old masterpieces.
Our guide will finally show you the church of St. Agostino in order to admire the Caravaggio’s masterpiece that has been restored in the studio.
A pleasant stroll in Piazza Navona is the final delight before heading back to Holy Deer.
