For the pure and simple joy of sharing beauty and hospitality...
There’s a moment when everything begins. There isn’t a real ‘why,’ but it just happens. It happened when Giorgia and I were on a plane, during one of our many business trips. At that time, we were successfully working in the world of fashion: a rewarding yet demanding reality. We were accustomed to delving into beauty, seeking it everywhere, believing that achieving perfection was possible.
That world completely absorbed us, the world that had given us so much and to which we had dedicated so much of ourselves. It made us run relentlessly from one commitment to another, like in that moment, on the plane.
And then it happened.
Even now, we can’t quite explain it. Maybe it was that carpet of clouds that seemed to separate us from the world. Or perhaps it was that timeless pace in the cobalt blue sky.
We looked at each other, and everything seemed to stop, as if that yet another journey towards tomorrow was endless, without a real destination or happiness.
We began to talk about ourselves, our dreams, and what we loved. About the mountains and their endless breath that we missed. About the time that seemed to slip through our fingers.
We spoke of small things. Of those simple knowledge that express millennia of wisdom, like inhabiting and being part of nature, gathering its fruits and knowing how to appreciate and savor them.
We spoke of happiness and simplicity. Of who we wanted to be and where we wanted to be. We thought of the mountains as home. Of the infinite and ancient sea, which embodies the very essence of travel and discovery. Of the beauty of Rome and our Italy. Of its immense culture. Of our desire to experience it and share it with others.
And we decided.
In that indefinite and suspended moment, the San Lorenzo Lodges were born. A dream that gave us back our life and the happiness of dreaming about the future. Of giving friendship and receiving it in return, for the pure and simple joy of sharing beauty and hospitality. To dwell in and share the splendor of the world, from the white and endless horizon of the mountains, to the history of the Eternal City, to the timeless sea.
