The story of White Deer begins when Giorgia and Stefano Barbini travel down an enchanting lane that winds through the woods and reach an ancient hunting lodge from the 16th century, immersed in the pristine nature of the Val Pusteria.
It’s love at first sight.
THE SPACES
The pathway leading to the entrance of White Deer is lined with a traditional South Tyrolean fence, built with our own hands along with a local craftsman. It leads to a front door of rare beauty, intricately carved in larch mosaic, beyond which awaits wonder.
Soft fabrics, elegant spaces, natural materials, noble arches, and refined details are all traces of the care and love we have poured into this chalet.
The stube
The Stube, typically Alpine in style, overlooks the dining area and welcomes you after a day out in the cold snow, wrapping you in a warm embrace that feels like family. The ambiance exudes the warmth of “cirmolo” wood, a richly set table, and the imposing masonry stove, with a bench that runs along the walls. In this room, we’ve set creativity free, allowing it to play with different styles in a continuous blend of design and tradition.

We’ve carefully designed and created the exclusive spaces at White Deer San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge to be the perfect combination of elegance, tradition, and design. We’ve done this with love because we like to imagine that when you desire to settle into the sofa by the crackling fireplace, for relaxation, reading, or rest, enveloped in soft fabrics, it’s an experience you’ll remember with bliss.
THE WHIRPOOL
The backyard garden is dominated by a patio where comfortable seats bask in the sun, concealing a little gem. With a gentle touch of a button, the deck slides sideways, revealing the crystal-clear water of a stainless steel pool with a Berndorf Baderbau whirlpool. The water’s constant temperature is 39°C, allowing you to relax in the pool even during the colder seasons.

The enchantment of the mountains is also experienced during moments of respite from any activity; those precious minutes when the frenetic rhythms slow down and remain outside the door of the relaxation area. This is the right space where you can let go, being lulled by the relaxing massage of a digital-controlled armchair, immersing yourself in the bubbles of the whirlpool, or surrendering to the rejuvenating warmth of the sauna or Turkish bath. At the end of each day, the allure of this environment is enticing, like the voice of a siren.

Once a small goat stable, now the heart of a journey through the tastes and flavors of Alto Adige and all of Italy. From the lodge’s exterior, in just a few steps, you’ll arrive at the cozy cellar with its original stone walls and beautiful wooden ceiling. A small delight for the eyes and, above all, the palate, serving as a stage for a unique sensory journey through the tastes and aromas of Italy. Waiting for you is a selection of carefully selected wines and excellent specialties from our gastronomic tradition, sought after with time and care in the shops of small Italian producers.

With the help of skilled carpenters, the space where speck smoking once took place has taken on an entirely different identity: amid the fires of the original stove and the stone countertops, you’ll find timeless utensils alongside state-of-the-art appliances. The love for food, all Italian, is in the air among these stoves. And it’s in this space that we’ll pamper your palate and enchant your eyes with dishes from our culture and unique culinary creations, all prepared by a chef dedicated to you.
